Description of Responsibilities:
Project management and project controls positions include investor owned utilities, construction, environmental, pharmaceutical, and government agency related clients and projects.  Position opportunities may include the following:

  • Plan and CPM schedule development
  • Task duration and construction cost estimating
  • Resource analysis
  • Report design and development
  • Total cost management
  • Routine statusing
  • Reporting to management and other client team members and resources

Scheduling — Identification of “fast track” and “crashing” opportunities, resource and bottleneck identification and resolution recommendations, conducting process FMEA (failure modes and effects analysis) on project schedules, and proactively proposing opportunities for conflict mitigation and risk avoidance.  Additional duties include accomplishing special requests and assignments relating to project requirements on an as-needed basis for clients and team members.

Cost ControlsDevelopment, verification, organization of construction cost estimates, and organizing project documents for take offs and pricing, presenting estimates to management and assessing risk and contingency applications, and evaluating alternatives and presenting the best value alternative.  Many times the estimates are used for baseline, variance, cost reporting after collecting compiling and understanding actual costs compared to the estimates.  Earned Value cost projections are formulized to forecast projects estimate at completion.  If forecasts are unacceptable, problem mitigation techniques are presented to the clients team in an effort to reign in forecasts.

Owner’s Representation — Other typical responsibilities include acting as an owner’s representative on construction projects, conducting meetings, and representing the owner’s best interests in project related decisions.  Duties include the upkeep of daily logs, generating meeting minutes, assurance of adherence to plans and specifications by the general and subcontractors, and verifying and approving payment requests by contractors, as well as analysis of schedule submittals, establishing and representing the owner’s cost position for pending contract modifications, and negotiating time and cost additions with the contractor for changes.

Other Project Controls Tasks & Delay Claims Analysis — Research, documentation discovery, and fact-finding in confidential support of clients’ project claim/delay analysis.  Responsibilities involve schedule analysis, delay root cause determinations, cost estimates and associated damages calculations, as well as justifications.  Claim analysis report generation and summarization would then be presented in detail to senior ACM associates or principals for litigation support, expert testimonies, and depositions.
